Course Introduction

Study a degree in philosophy and Spanish in the heart of London. Particular teaching strengths are in philosophy of mind, philosophy of science and ancient philosophy. The Department of Spanish, Portuguese & Latin American Studies is active in all fields of Hispanic language, literature and cultural history.

Year 1 examples of modules: Greek philosophy I; ethics I; elementary logic; metaphysics I; modern philosophy I; political philosophy I; epistemology I; methodology; Spanish language I. Year 2 examples of modules: Cervantes' Don Quijote; after Franco (films and texts of the transition); Goya and the dream of reason; perceptions of modernity, Spanish America 1800'1920; Greek philosophy II (Plato); Greek philosophy II (Aristotle). Year 3: Year abroad. Year 4 examples of modules: Real and ideal in early modern Spanish literature; writing women in medieval and early modern Spain dissertation; 19th century continental philosophy; 20th century continental philosophy; advanced logic modules.
