Course Modules

Year 1: Literary forms of representation and literature, culture and criticism; students choose an English'related option, and have a wide range of electives available including information technology and foreign languages. Year 2: Core unit in criticism, theory and practice which develops the study of fiction, poetry, film and drama; in addition there is a broad offering of options and electives that include: modern literary theory; literature and the Renaissance; theatre studies; text and society; literature and art of the 18th century. Year 3: Core study is chosen from: European literature; Shakespeare; modern American drama; theory and contemporary writing; adolescence in literature; family plots; 20th'century theatre; literature of the gothic; romanticism; other Americas; cinema and space; dissertation.
