Course Introduction

The course provides practice'relevant study on aspects of substantive law or legal practice and enables you to develop the analytical and research skills necessary to write a detailed piece of research relevant to law practice. This programme comprises a taught module in research methodology, together with completion of a dissertation; research methodology is taught over 1 semester as a single module; the dissertation is designed to test both breadth and depth of knowledge in legal and related research.

Course Additional Entry

A Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice, where sufficient study has been completed equivalent to 120 credit modules, within the last 5 years; Bar Professional Training Course (formerly the Bar Vocational Course), where sufficient study has been completed equivalent to 120 credit modules, within the last 5 years; practising solicitors who have undertaken the former Law Society's Solicitors' final examinations and have at least 6 months' recent practice experience within the last 2 years are considered; practising barristers who have undertaken the former Bar Final examinations and have at least 6 months' recent practice experience within the last 2 years are considered; foreign qualified lawyers admitted to practice in England or Wales who have at least 6 months' recent practice experience within the last 2 years are considered; applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.5 or above, at a minimum of 5.5 for each of the 4 individual components, TOEFL internet'based test 90 or above, Pearson PTE Academic 58 or above, or an equivalent secure English language test.
