Course Introduction

Students on this programme research a range of themes including: curriculum; pedagogy and assessment; education management; school improvement; higher education; student and teacher identities; informal and workplace learning; inequality and social justice; the nature of professional expertise; the intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual aspects of personal experience and professional development; and the evolving practices and policy contexts of professional work.

Course Modules

Social change and English: a study of 3 English departments 1945'65; targeted initiative on science and mathematics education; class, race, gender and age in teachers' social and professional worlds; modernity and religious education; widening participation in higher education.

Course Additional Entry

Good Honours degree (2.1 or above) in an appropriate subject to the research area; a teaching qualification or equivalent experience; 2 or more years of research in education; an appropriate Master's degree; an approved professional or other qualification.
