All non-EU students who wish to remain in the UK must apply for a work visa from the UK Border Agency. There are three options:
- Tier 1 (Post-Study Work). Currently available* if you have completed a UK undergraduate/postgraduate degree or a professional graduate diploma.
- Tier 1 (General). Available for graduates who are highly skilled.
- Tier 2. Available if you wish to work in an industry in the UK where there is a shortage of qualified workers.
*UPDATE: From April 2012, the Tier 1 (Post-Study Work) visa will close. International students can still work in the UK after their studies but they will need to apply for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 visa.
