London offers more than 15,000 undergraduate degree courses in everything from Accounting to Zoology. Some courses offer flexibility allowing you to build a study programme that is specific to your interests. Many others provide access to industry through work-based projects, placements and internships.
How to apply to a London university
Follow these three steps to start your application today.
- Find a course:Our course searchenables you to search over 30,000 courses on offer in London. Register with us to save your favourite courses and to contact universities for further information on entry requirements.
- Prepare and submit your application:The application process differs for undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.
For undergraduate degrees, you will need to submit your undergraduate application via UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service). UCAS is a centralised application system which allows you to complete one application and send this to 5 universities (4 if you are applying for Medicine or Dentistry).
UCAS has strict application deadlines. Medicine and Dentistry applications have to be submitted by 15th October the year before you want to start studying. For all other courses, 15th January is the application deadline. Some universities allow international students to apply later in the year. However, if you are hoping to go to a high ranking university, ensure you apply by the official deadline.
Some courses such as Law, Medicine and Dentistry require additional admissions test which you have to take before you apply to the universities. Contact your chosen university for details.
Each of the 27 countries that make up the EU will have their own specific entry requirements for undergraduate study, these requirements will then vary from university to university. Before applying you should check the entry requirements with your desired institution.
Undergraduate Entry Requirements for Students from France
The French Baccalauréat Général or Technologique with good grades are accepted at most London universities. Your application will also be considered if you have studied the Brevet de Technicien (BT) Brevet Professionnel (BP) or a 2 year Diplôme D’Etat de Technicien.
Undergraduate Entry Requirements for Students from Germany
You will need a German Abitur with a minimum grade of 1.3. You may also be considered if you have one of the following qualifications: Zeugnis der Allgemeinen, Zeugnis der Fachgebundenen Hochschulreife or the Zeugnis der Fachhochschulreife.
Undergraduate Entry Requirements for Students from Italy
You will need the Italian Esame di Stato. Grade requirements will vary from approximately 70 and up. The Diploma di Maturità is also accepted by most universities in London.
Undergraduate Entry Requirements for Students from Cyprus
The Cypriot Apolyitirion of Lykeion (School Leaving Certificate) with a minimum of 16 or higher is required at most London universities. Depending on your grades, some universities may ask you to complete a foundation year before you can begin the full undergraduate degree.
Undergraduate Entry Requirements for Students from Greece
You will need a Apolytirion of Lykeio with good grades (minimum 15).
Undergraduate Entry Requirements for Students from Poland
The Polish Matura and Swiadectwo Dojrzałości with good grades are acceptable for most UK undergraduate degrees. Diplomas from Technikums may also be considered depending on your subject choice.
Undergraduate Entry Requirements for Students from Spain
You will need Título de Bachillerato (BACH) or Curso de Orientación (COU). The Selectividad may also be considered. Other qualifications also accepted by most universities are Técnico Especialista, Técnico Superior (new system), Diplomado and the Diplomatura.
